for track power and switch machine control.
Switch machines are powered from separate plus and minus 9 volt DC busses. The other half of the toggle switch routes power to the appropriate frog.

Rear view of track showing prewiring. The small terminal board is fed through a hole in the table and then jumpers are used from track terminal board to control panel terminal board. Wiring channel grooves were cut into the homosote. Yes. Blue tape is a good insulator, if it stays dry.
(After all track power is only 16,000 millivolts AC.)
